Construction of fresh patrols for Marina Militarye has begun

The contract for the construction of the first 3 units of this type, with the option for the next three, was signed on 31 July 2023 with the joint venture company Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, in which the Italian armed companies Fincantieri (51%) and Leonardo (49%) share. On 5 August this year, the Italian Navy utilized the contract option and[ ordered another 4th patrolman](https://defence24.pl/industrial/fourth-patrol-opv-dla-marina-militare). The full value of the contract for these units amounts to almost EUR 1.2 billion, including logistics support services. The transportation date of the first OPV was scheduled for 2027.
