Meeting of the president and Prime Minister

After 12 a long-awaited gathering between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and president Karol Nawrock was held. The Prime Minister arrived at the Presidential Palace on time, but the president did not greet him before entering. According to the protocol, only the leaders of another countries are greeted in this way. As a result, Tusk had to wait for the host in an empty room, which was recorded by tv cameras.

The recordings showed the Prime Minister circling the table for about 2 minutes and then sitting. president Nawrocki joined the talks a fewer minutes after 12. The specified cleavage ended before 13 o'clock.

Rafał Leśkiewicz announced on Thursday that at the Prime Minister's request a gathering would be held in private with the President, whose main themes would be the situation in Ukraine and Trump-Putin talks. He stressed that the initiative had indeed come from Tusk.

What was the conversation about?

Shortly after the meeting, government spokesperson Adam Sz Trapka stated that the conversation afraid key areas requiring cooperation between the president and Prime Minister, specified as security, diplomacy, the situation in Ukraine and Donald Trump's gathering with Vladimir Putin.

He stressed that both sides agreed on the request to cooperate on fundamental issues in accordance with the Constitution, which clearly defines the powers of the president and the Council of Ministers. The trap besides confirmed that the Cabinet Council would meet on August 27.

Adam Sz Trapka pointed out that in matters of security, abroad policy and interest of Poland, close cooperation is needed to avoid external attempts to influence. He stressed the constitutional division of competences, pointing out that the state's position on key issues is being proposed by the government, passed by the Council of Ministers, and the president and Prime Minister are required to cooperate. He besides informed about the erstwhile contacts of individual ministers with US representatives, assessing that working relations would be beneficial for Poland.

He did not straight confirm the President's next gathering with the Prime Minister, simply stating that there would be more.
