According to fresh government arrangements, British sailors are presently banned from drinking alcohol for at least 2 days a week, while limiting the weekly allocation to fourteen alcohol units (each unit is 10 ml or 8 g pure alcohol), corresponding to six pints of beer (3.4 litres). In this way, the conventional rule of "two cans" (two-can rules) which has been introduced to rise morale during operational activities has been replaced by the conventional rule of "two cans" in force in the United Kingdom.
