The Ministry of abroad Affairs powerfully rejected statements by Russian president Vladimir Putin on alleged Polish territorial claims against Ukraine.
The MFA message is simply a consequence to the Sunday speech of Russian leader Vladimir Putin during a gathering with naval soldiers in St. Petersburg. According to the Russian agency Interfax Putin argued that Ukraine would lose its western territories in the future, which – as he claimed – historically belonged to Poland, Hungary and Romania.
I am convinced that Ukraine will sooner or later lose its western lands; what belonged to Poland, which belonged to Hungary, which belonged to Romania – sooner or later, not tomorrow, possibly the day after tomorrow, in a year, two, 10, 15, but everything will historically work out. There was only 1 warrant of the territorial integrity of Ukraine – Russia said the leader of Russia.
The Ministry’s firm response
The Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs in the communication referred to these reports.
The Ministry of abroad Affairs of the Republic of Poland explicitly rejects further, false and completely unfounded speculations by Russian Federation president Vladimir Putin regarding alleged imperialist aspirations of neighbours and territorial division Ukraine and suggesting participation in this process of the Republic of Poland – indicated the Ministry of abroad Affairs.
The Communication points out that these statements are part of disinformation activities aimed at creating tensions between Ukraine and the countries supporting Kiev and deepening divisions among European allies.
The Ministry pointed out that Poland consistently recognises and supports Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders. It besides recalled the existing border treaty between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in 2003.
Information War
The Ministry besides stressed that Moscow's suggestions for Poland's annexation of western Ukraine's circuits are a permanent component of the Russian Information War.
The nonsubjective of this action is clear and consists in an effort to divide European nations and divert global attention from the violent, illegal military aggression conducted by the Russian Federation – added in the communication.
At the end of the MFA, the authorities of the Russian Federation called on the Russian Federation to halt formulating territorial claims against neighbouring countries.
