Russian unmanned aircraft repeatedly breached Polish airspace during the night attack on Ukraine. any of the hazardous facilities were shot down and European leaders declared solidarity with Poland. Now the measurement of the credibility of alliances must be concrete defence capabilities, not communications alone.
Russian attack crossed the Polish border
During the night of 9th to 10th September 2025, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, there was a multiple violation of Polish airspace by unmanned aircraft. Polish and allied radiolocation systems were tracking the facilities, and against those that could pose a threat, the Operation Commander of the Types of Armed Forces made a decision to neutralise.
The government communication identified the event as unprecedented in its scale and posed a real threat to citizens. Air operations were completed after the threat stopped, but the services were inactive searching for remains. Residents were called not to approach the found objects, contact them and effort to decision them.

Europe supported Poland's right of defence

These voices are needed due to the fact that Russia tests the cohesion of the West and the resilience of border states. However, solidarity is of value only erstwhile it translates into reconnaissance, anti-aircraft defense, drone combat systems, efficient civilian procedures and fast response.
Sovereignty must be defended by its own strength
Violation of the Polish sky is an attack on the fundamental right of the state to control its own territory. For Poles, there is not an abstract debate at stake in Brussels, but the safety of homes, infrastructure, airports and space in which civilian aircraft decision daily.
Poland needs alliances, but it cannot depend its own safety on the goodwill of another capitals. National capabilities are needed to detect and destruct low-cost unmanned aircraft without disproportionately costly measures, dense air defence and a clear public informing system. The east flank must not stay an area in which the opponent checks how far he can go.
Words must turn into abilities
The reaction of European leaders shows that the violation of Polish sovereignty has been seen as a threat to the full community. That's the right diagnosis. However, it cannot end with a expression about solidarity.
Poland has the right to anticipate from allies a real participation in the protection of the east border, and from its own authorities a consistent improvement of defence. Russian aggression on Ukraine is already straight affecting our territory. The answer must be a state able to deter, detect and react. Sovereignty without force remains a declaration.
