Poland as an iron ally
Miłosz Motyka informed during the briefing for Polish media that during a two-day visit to Washington, Poland's delegation held talks with representatives of the United States and partners from Central and east Europe about creating fresh energy safety architecture in Europe and strengthening transatlantic relations.
The Minister stressed that Poland plays a peculiar function in this process, identifying it as an "iron" ally of the US in the field of energy, economy and defence and military cooperation. He added that relations between countries are very good, and fresh talks are also confirmation.
The Minister besides reported that an agreement was signed between the Energy Department in Washington DC Orlen Synthos Green Energy and an American company GE Vernova Hitachi atomic Energy concerning the improvement of a European and in practice a Polish task of a tiny modular reactor, adapted to the reality of the European energy market.
This confirms the essence of this sector in the field of energy transformation, which is taking place in Poland. The fact that atomic energy issues will play a key function in the fresh safety architecture. This confirms that Poland not only wants to, but does everything to be the leader in the improvement of this sector in Europe, Central and east Europe – he assessed Motyka.
Key natural materials from the USA
During the talks, among others, the issues of energy transformation with the usage of natural materials from the United States were addressed. Minister Miłosz Motyka pointed out that in 2015 80% of the gas imported to Poland came from Russia, while now the country is completely free and safe energetically thanks to diversified supplies and long-term modernisation of infrastructure, which allows Poland to execute the function of a gas hub for all Central and east Europe.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Energy Wojciech Wrochna pointed out that energy cooperation with the US allows for the improvement of the Polish transmission system, supporting gas supply to Ukraine and another countries, which will increase competition and reduce energy transport costs.
We agree that Russian gas must be completely expelled from our part of Europe and from all over Europe said Motyka. He stressed that even before the invasion of Ukraine began, Russia applied energy force to Poland and another countries of the region, causing a crisis. Since then, Poland has become energy-safe and the leader of change in Europe.
