The SAFE programme opens fresh opportunities for the Polish armoury, and our floating BWP Borsuk is of large interest and the Rosomak armored wheeled transporters tested in Afghanistan. Slovakia, seeking to exchange post-Soviet equipment, is considering not only the acquisition of finished vehicles, but besides wants to co-produce it and together with us search fresh outlets.
Wheeled armored transporter Rosomak He has been known to the Polish Army and Polish armed forces for over 20 years. During this time, our engineers introduced a number of amendments. A peculiarly selective experimental ground for them was a stabilization mission in Afghanistan, during which wagons won the nickname "green devils".
The quintessence of the work which the Polish military and armaments put into the refinement of Finnish vehicles Patria AMV, produced in Poland under the name Rosomak, is dedicated to these unmanned transporters ZSSW-30 tower, by many experts considered to be the most modern plan in its class.
It was the parameters of this tower, including the fire force unleashed by 30 mm cannon and a double anti-tank rocket launcher led, that determined that it was selected as an component of the fresh Polish combat infantry vehicles. Badger, which are to replace BWP-1 in the Polish Army in the next decade.
Badgers are now the only serially produced combat vehicles of this class, which can, without peculiar preparation, “from the march”, overcome water obstacles themselves – rivers, lakes or canals. These wagons are of large interest to our Central European allies who, like us, face the exchange of post-Soviet military technology for newer solutions.
Slovak ally
Slovakia translates its interest into specifics the most. Our neighbour is not only considering buying Polish weapons – Badgers and Rosomaks – but besides wants to co-produce them and together with us search fresh outlets.
The chance to talk about how helpful the SAFE program can be in these purposes was late Working visit to Slovakia Władysław Kosiniak-Kamisha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence. In addition to bilateral talks with his Slovak counterpart, the head of the MON besides had the chance to meet with representatives of the Polish-Slovak Defence and Industrial dialog there. “We will either be strong in our own industries, or we will not be”, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister spoke about these talks. – We have immense possible together, we have something to decision forward with. The Polish-Slovak partnership has a large sense and I believe in it from the very beginning," added Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Experts, commenting on plans for Slovakia to get the Badgers and possibly besides the Rosomaks, emphasize that a decade ago our neighbour was close to buying native KTOs. In 2015, even in this case, a letter of intent was signed, but yet Slovakia decided to buy Patria AMV transporters from the Finns due to the licence restrictions.
Now the destiny of buying by Slovakia Borsuks with Turra Tower 30 (produced by EVPÚ) and the joint fight for abroad outlets for the Rosomak with the same fire strategy is at stake. The vehicle in this configuration was shown on last year's global Defence manufacture Exhibition In Kielce.
It is possible that in connection with the extension of the licence for the production of Rosomak by the Polish Armed Group and the extension of our export rights, Slovakia will decide to acquisition our vehicles with Slovak tower, not Finnish AMV.
