Roman Majewski: How much is the Polish Presidency worth in the EU?

Poland has just finished its Presidency in Council of the European Union. It was expected to be arrogant and groundbreaking, and it came out – as usual under Donald Tusk – empty, as well as without any trace of following the Polish national interest. Tusk, like the politician of the Brussels Empire, played the function of a polite steward in the colony, forgetting whose interests he should represent.

It is not even that we have achieved nothing – it is that we have not even tried to do anything. There have been no attempts to renegotiate the very damaging Green Deal, no hard talks about the coercion of receiving immigrants. But what did I anticipate from these governments?

Instead of fighting for Polish matters, we had smiles, conferences and empty slogans about “European values”. There was besides complacency of the elite, which has long not represented the interests of Poles, but the interests of this unsaturated structure, which is the European Union.

The Polish Presidency was in fact the theatrical art of Donald Tusk. He performed on phase as a European actor, reciting the issues written in Berlin and Brussels, and his government co-workers repeated it from the lodge. No 1 – in Warsaw, Paris or Brussels – took this seriously. But “nobody in the EU will win” – laughter in the room. There was no Polish force in this Presidency, no national pride, no vision. There was only an thought to unwind it as shortly as possible – without content, without purpose, just pointless.

From my position – as a conservative – this is very bitter due to the fact that it shows the complex of Polish elites. The elite, which, alternatively of building a strong sovereign state rooted in tradition, God and natural order, prefers to play the function of perfect students of the EU school.

Yet we, as a nation with more than a 1000 years of history, do not gotta kneel before a structure with communist roots, which was created respective decades ago and since then has mainly been dealing with the dismantling of national states. This Presidency may have been a minute of fact – saying that we are either returning to Europe of sovereign countries, focusing primarily on economical cooperation, or Poland must choose its own way. But for specified movements we request real Polish power.

Instead, we had further confirmation that Brussels is the centre of their planet for the current authorities, and they treat Warsaw as a province.

I have no illusions. The Presidency came to an end and Poland gained nothing – neither respect nor real changes. All he gained was Donald Tusk, who willingly built his image as a "European statesman", although in fact he was only a temporary local authoritative of a larger empire.

It's time to face the truth. There is no future for us as a free nation in this Union. And all day we spend in this communist structure, we are alienated from normality, sovereignty and freedom. The Tusk Presidency only confirmed that. Time to halt having false hopes. POLEXIT is not a hazard for us – it is an opportunity. A chance to rebuild a country that will belong to us, not to EU Commissioners and ideologists.
