Exhibition on Silent and GROM

Special attention should be paid to the temporary exhibition "Best. Quiet. GROM". The exposition combines the past of legendary silent formations with the heritage of contemporary peculiar forces soldiers. “The thought for a joint exhibition was born naturally,” says Wojciech Markert, head of the past department of MPW. – GROM Since the beginning of its existence, the heirs and proceed the tradition of the silent, and we have been working with the unit on various projects for years. This year, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of GROM became an chance to show how profoundly this unit reaches to the roots of the Home Army," he adds.

The exhibition will be available at least until June 2026.

Warchava in photographs of Gen. Stefan Baluk

Another component of this year's anniversary celebration is the exhibition of photographs of Gen. Stefan Baluk, silent, insurgent and photography enthusiast. In his photographs, Baluk immortalized Warsaw just before the uprising and in his early days. He took pictures of streets, military facilities, German installations, as well as the regular life of the inhabitants of the occupied capital right under the nose of the German occupiers.

Photographs, like many another invaluable testimonies of the uprising, survived the war only due to the fact that they were hidden. “This is an invaluable origin of cognition about the regular business life and military reality of August 1944,” says Jarosław Maliniak, head of the MPW archive department. The exhibition is simply a preview of a planned photographic album that will be released later this year.

Mass of Pows Dances
