UN Resolution and American diplomatic offensive. A change in Gaza?

**Last minute**: The United Nations safety Council adopted a resolution demanding immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages. It would last during Ramadan, at least until April 9. All members of the Council voted "in favour" but for the United States, which abstained. The Americans demanded that Hamas' actions be condemned.
