Letter from the U.S. abroad Affairs Committee
Republicans from the abroad Affairs Committee of the home of Representatives published on Tuesday a letter addressed to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in which they request clarification on reports of illegal support for the Rafał Trzaskowski run through electoral advertisements. They besides pointed to the decision to suspend the subsidy to Law and Justice.

Reports of foreign-funded political commercials favoring Rafał Trzaskowski, a candidate for the civilian Coalition (KO) supported by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, which may have occurred in violation of Polish law, combined with reports of the government's refusal of Tusk to comply with court orders ordering the transfer of public funds to the opposition organization Law and Justice (PiS), propose deliberate action to change the conditions of the election game," politicians wrote. "These actions under the supervision of the European Commission uncover worrying double standards in the EU's approach to the regulation of law in Poland, which requires urgent attention.
The Union is silent? The Republican charge
American politicians accuse the European Union of failing to respond to the issue of controversial electoral advertisements and stopping subsidies to the Law and Justice, even though the European Commission had previously taken decisive steps towards Poland during the erstwhile government.
The American side points out that although the Commission has in the past powerfully criticized the PiS authorities and frozen Poland with measures worth over $150 billion due to alleged violations of the regulation of law, it is now silent, despite clear evidence of akin irregularities under Donald Tusk.
In the letter, politicians referred to the information provided by “leading Polish publications”) concerning the financing of illegal electoral advertisements supporting Rafał Trzaskowski and attacking his opponents. These advertisements were to be paid by organizations associated with the Open Society Foundations, owned by George Soros, a well-known Democratic organization sponsor in the US.
Another organization – Estratos – with alleged ties to American democrats, was besides designated to finance illegal advertising campaigns on Facebook.
