It took six years for the monument by late Andrzej Pityński made to commemorate genocide in Poles from Volyn and east Małopolska to find its place on our land. Founded by the communities of Polish war veterans from the United States and Canada, he was to stand in Rzeszów, Toruń, Kielce, Jelenia Góra or Stalowa Wola. But all time the city authorities refused to accept the monument. Eventually, the work of Master Pityński went to a tiny village of Domastawa in Podkarpacie.

The years of fighting for the monument, however, made it 1 of the most popular monuments in Poland and took on the same dual importance, due to the fact that present it is besides a symbol of the opposition of the Polish people to political correctness and cowardice of the authorities.

The ceremony of unveiling the monument of the Volhynia Reich proved to be a historical moment. Thousands of Poles went to Domostawa that day. Despite the complete disregard of the ceremony by state authorities, church and military authorities, the organizers managed to guarantee the highest level of ceremony. A Mass celebrated by Fr Antoni Moskal was started, which gave a courageous and uncompromising sermon. As well as the division of the Colonel Tadeusz Zieleniewski of Majdan Obleszcza historical reconstruction group, a solemn raising of the state flag was performed and the appeal of the fallen was conducted. Then the man liable for bringing the monument of the Volhyna Rzeza to Domostawa, the erstwhile mayor, and now the president of the Social Construction Committee of the Monument of the Volhyna Rzeź Wołyńska in Domostawa, Zbigniew Walczak, spoke. It was followed by a large number of representatives of the border and communist communities, including visitors from the United States. Finally, journalists Witold Gadowski, Piotr Korczarowski and Marcin Rola spoke. They all agreed to meet again next year at the same place.

The monument was erected at the tallness of the ILO Bukov, at the S19 expressway leading from Lublin to Rzeszów. The full installation, along with a light hill and a plinth, is over 20 metres high. The sculpture in the form of an eagle stylized on Polish emblem cast from bronze weighs 14 tons.

The author of the work did not see his unveiling. Andrzej Pityński died in the US in September 2020. In 2018, however, he determined with Zbigniew Walczak that the monument to the Volynian Sculpture would stand in Domostawa. In the future, the place around the monument is to be supplemented with educational elements describing the gehenna of Poles from Volyn and east Małopolska.
