The world's 36 largest fuel giants – including Saudi Aramco, Coal India, ExxonMobil, Shell and many Chinese companies – produced coal, oil and gas in 2023, accounting for more than 20 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to a study by Carbon Majors.
