Mechanical plants “Tarnów” SA received nearly PLN 310 million to grow infrastructure and increase production capacity. The measures that went to the company as part of the financing of the “Narew” programme are intended to enable the implementation of key projects for the Polish Armed Forces, and yet strengthen the state's defence possible and position of the ZM in the structure of the Polish Armed Forces Group.

New halls, fresh jobs, fresh technologies. The agreement to co-finance the strategical Investment Plan of the Mechanical Plants in Tarnów signed today: Adam Leszkiewiczthe president Polish Armed Forces Group; Arkadiusz Bąk, Vice president of PGZ-etu; Robert Sadowski, president of the Board Mechanical Plants of Tarnów SA, and Tadeusz Kwiatkowski, associate of the board of the Tarnów company. The plans include the acquisition of machinery, construction and modernisation of production halls, laboratories and the acquisition of specialized investigation equipment. – The signing of these agreements should be placed in the context of dynamic improvement and change of the plants themselves. The year 2026 will be the 75th year of the company's activity in the defence industry, so it is hard to imagine a better entry into the jubilee year, signing this agreement present and transferring funds for modernization of this plant," added Adam Leszkiewicz, president of the Polish Armed Forces Group.

ZM Tarnów accelerates with weapons production

Tarnowskie Zakłady Mechanicy already conducts the first plan works related to the reconstruction of plant infrastructure. method documentation is being prepared and appropriate construction work is planned for 2026. The investment includes the construction of fresh R & D halls and laboratories, the modernisation of existing spaces and the creation of additional jobs, mainly in production, technology and investigation and improvement areas. This means not only restructuring the plant, but besides strengthening its position in the structure of the Polish Armed Forces Group.

Already today, Tarnów company plays an crucial function in the implementation “Narew” programme, aimed at building a multi-layered air defence strategy of the country by 2030. This means permanent orders and production stableness in the following years. – Mechanical plants are truly becoming a valuable gem in the full panorama of the PGZ Group companies. 11 companies implement this programme. We are preparing 23 short-range sets: anti-missile, anti-aircraft," said the president of the PGZ-et.

“Monster of Tarnow”

In parallel, financial support will accelerate work on another projects implemented in Tarnów. Among another things, the strategy of combating unmanned aircraft referred to as “The Monster of Tarnow”, which has already passed the test phase and is intended to enter mass production. The strategy is based on a WKLM multi-barrel device weapon of 12.7 mm, integrated with a modern optoelectronic head. It is distinguished by exceptional firepower (up to about 2 km) and advanced velocity shooting (up to 3600 st/min). It is effective and its operating costs are comparatively low.

– I think it will be the export product of 1 Mechanical Plant in Tarnów. In a twelve days we will meet again here at the latest to announce 1 of the most crucial contracts concerning the Polish state's anti-drone defence. We will finalize this strategical investment of the 4th layer of air defence of the country. It will not take place without the usage of the “monster from Tarnów” – added Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The concept of a mobile autonomous artillery effector intended for the San programme was developed and agreed with the Armed Forces Agency. The first copies will be delivered next year.

Increasing production and fresh jobs

Tarnów plants evidence a marked increase in arms production. In the past year, the number of remote-controlled ZSMU weapons modules produced was 3 times higher than the year before. At the same time, fresh versions of these systems are being developed, including the ZSMU A3K module designed for the Polishized K2PL tank.

The company besides delivered PSR-A Pilica anti-aircraft systems – 2 recently produced kits and 2 adapted to Pilica+ standards were delivered. These are the key elements of Pilica+'s set, strengthening the capabilities of air defence of the Polish Army.

The investment under the “Narew” programme will not only change the face of the plants but besides the local labour market. Already today, ZM Tarnów are 1 of the largest employers in the region. In 2025 employment increased by nearly 200 jobs. “By the end of the business plan, we will employment another 200 people who have the right qualifications in the Tarnów region and make us as Mechanical Plants able to fulfil these obligations that we accept”, said Robert Sadowski, president of the Management Board of the “Tarnów” SA.

These are jobs not only in production but besides in R & D, technological and service departments. Recruitment takes place gradually. For Tarnow, it is simply a chance to attract specialists and engineers to the city.
