Advertising sweets can shortly vanish from television, radio, and the press. This week a peculiar petition was sent to the Sejm committee, which aims to combat the increasing level of obesity among Poles. According to its content, the promotion of sweet products should be subject to regulations akin to alcohol advertising.

During the Wednesday session of the Parliamentary Committee on Petitions, parliamentarians leaned over the petition on restrictions on advertising sweets.
According to marketzdrowia.pl, the author of the paper pointed out that advertising of products with a advanced sugar content, which harm the wellness of Poles, should regulate akin rules as advertising of alcohol. The petition was addressed for further consideration by the Parliamentary Healthy Lifestyle Team.
Sweets like alcohol? A fresh task has arrived at the Sejm
The petition discussed in the Sejm reads that "if respective tens of thousands of people die each year in Poland, obesity and it causes about 200 complications, it is appropriate to introduce changes concerning the promotion of sweets in society – created in the pattern of restrictions on beer".
The author besides referred to the latest WHO data, which indicate that Polish children become the fastest in Europe, besides due to excessive consumption of various kinds of sweets. Estimatedly, about 60% of children aged 1 to 15 are overweight, of which almost half are students and students.

According to the originator, advertising and the promotion of sweets should be partially limited in television, cinema, theatre, youth and children's press, and on the cover of journals and magazines.
Petition received Negative evaluation of the Bureau of Sejm Experts, but it was addressed to the Parliamentary Healthy Lifestyle Group and the fight against overweight and obesity.
Candy ads only on billboards. Possible fresh restrictions
A fresh task to limit advertising of sweet products leaves the anticipation billboard hangings or flyers on poles or advertising boards. However, any specified poster would gotta meet circumstantial requirements.
The top part of the advertisement should then include the inscription:
"The content of sugars in the advertised products is X per 100 grams. Excessive consumption of simple sugars leads to obesity and disease kind 2 diabetes, cardiovascular illness and psychiatric disorders. Eat more fruit and vegetables. Lead an active lifestyle."

Expert on Social Affairs at the Bureau of Experts Wojciech Zgliczyński stressed that in a petition addressed to the Sejm, he is present a series of inconsistencies. The task does not introduce a clear definition of sweets and, according to Zgliczyński, a single change is not adequate to counter obesity. It is essential in this case system changes.
