As of January 2025, the reporting work was restored in Poland, which was abolished in 2013. Failure to comply with this work is punishable by a fine the amount of which depends on the material situation of the person.

Reporting work – what is it?

The reporting work shall be to notify the citizen of his permanent or temporary residence. This applies to both Polish citizens and foreigners residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland. According to the Act on the Registration of the Population, everyone who lives in Poland is obliged to check in at the place of stay within 30 days of arrival.

Penalties for not reporting

Pursuant to Article 147(1) of the Code of Offence, a individual who fails to comply with the reporting work shall be subject to a punishment of regulation of liberty, fine or reprimand. The amount of the fine shall be determined individually, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the physical situation of the person.

Check-in may be made in individual at the municipal office or via the net utilizing the trusted, qualified electronic signature or individual signature profile. In case of rent of an apartment, a rental contract or another paper confirming the right to the accommodation is required for check-in.

In addition, current reporting data make it easier for local governments to plan and deliver services to residents.
