The Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) registered a fresh spiritual community, which was named the Sun Church. The founders of this community are Alina Czyżewska and Paweł Nijakowski, known for their anti-clerical views and promoting the thought of a secular state. The registration of the Sun Church lasted as long as 3.5 years, indicating that the procedure was rather complicated.
The Church of the Sun is already the 176th spiritual union in Poland. Most of them were registered in the 1990s erstwhile the registration procedure was much easier than at present. Currently, to registry a fresh church, you request 100 signatures confirmed notarically. The Sun Church was registered on February 25, 2025.
The intent of the Sun Church is to stimulate reflection on spiritual privileges and to provoke discussions on the function of religion in Poland.
