"Refugees" all inclusive

The Poznan hotel Ikar was 1 of the places where Ukrainians fled from the war. About 250 people were accommodated in the facility. A free stay at the hotel in the very centre of Poznań was seemingly enjoyed by visitors from beyond the east border. After they learned about the necessity to leave the facility, in connection with the planned renovation, the “guests” began a loud protest action.

That's right.

"We, the undersigned refugees and refugees from Ukraine, who have been residing for respective months at the Ikar Hotel at Solna Street, ask the Wielkopolska Voivodeship and the Polish Government to suspend our displacement from Poznań and from the Ikar Hotel. (...) We are offered to resettle to another localities, usually far from or poorly connected with Poznań, or renting an apartment, which, at very advanced prices recently, is not available to us “We read in a message signed by respective 100 Ukrainians. Therefore, the request to rent an flat at its own expense is not seen by Ukrainian migrants as normal, but as an injury to them. However, not only Poles, but besides Ukrainians who have settled in Poland over the years, gotta bury their own housing needs.

Another thing is that we have ourselves utilized the alleged "refugees" to live at our expense. "Everything is regulated between the Polish Hotel Holding and the Wielkopolska Provincial Office. All guests stay in our hotel free of charge – and accommodation, and meals 3 times a day, media usage, cleaning, parking, extra classes with volunteers, meetings with a scientist or children's education. It's free, they don't pay.“” she admitted, with disheartening sincerity, the spokesperson for the Polish Hotel Holding Magdalena Chiefernaker. So Ukrainians received all inclusive holidays at the expense of the Polish taxpayer.

The palace is not enough

The owner of the Biedrusek Palace and Park Complex came up with a proposal to solve the problem. He offered the chance to supply almost 200 beds, adapted to the needs of families. The Neo-Renaissance palace in Biedrusk is an interesting architectural object, picturesquely located on the hillside which is part of the western edge of the Warta Valley. Biedrusko itself, lies just outside the borders of Poznań and is now 1 of the suburbs. It is perfectly connected with the city centre and has the essential infrastructure for the residents.

Despite this, the proposal to decision met with the violent opposition of "refugees". The problem was... the proximity of the military range. The secret, however, is that the “refugees” have become accustomed to the comfortable (and cost-free) functioning in the centre of Poznań.

We owe it to ourselves.

The problem of “refugees” from the Ikar Hotel is just the tip of the iceberg. This is not an isolated situation. Since the beginning of this unfortunate war, we have observed that offering real and presumed refugees extraordinary privileges will lead to a situation where we gain layers of claims malcontents. Bumelants who prey on Polish taxpayers, including their relatives who work honestly in our country. Now comes the time to drink the beer we've been harassing. It won't be a pleasant experience. For either side.
