Representative of the United States president John Cole agreed on further dismissals of Belarusian political prisoners, informed Deputy Minister of abroad Affairs Marcin Bosacki.
“All day of meetings in Washington. Most crucial with John Coale, the president's advisor and MP for Ukraine and Belarus. Coale negotiated further releases of political prisoners, including Poles and Belarusian Belsatu collaborators, at the hands of Lukashenko.
We're hoping for more good news soon. Godspeed, John!” wrote Bosacki on the social networking site X.
Earlier, at the safety Council gathering on 14 October, Alaksandr Lukashenka stated that he was allowing a “large deal” with the United States, but proposed that this issue be submitted to the safety Council plenary. Before that, Lukashenko proposed to hand over the freed political prisoners to the United States. At the end of September, Cole stated that he was addressing the issue of the release of Belarusian political prisoners, including Alesia Bialacki.
