On 3 April at the plenary session of the European Parliament, MEPs adopted a resolution "On the direct hazard of further repression by the Lukashenko government – threats from the Committee of Inquiry". 535 MEPs voted in favour of the resolution, with 19.55 abstentions.

The resolution was initiated by Euro MP Michał Kobosko, Vice-President of the European Parliament delegation on relations with Belarus, following the appeal of Mr Latuszko, Deputy Head of the United Interim Office and Head of the National Anti-crisis Board. Easy asked to respond to the cross-border crimes of the Lukashenko government in connection with the ongoing political persecution of Belarusians, especially those who are abroad and participate in legal manifestations in EU countries, informs the press service of Paweł Latuszko.

“During the March 23, 2025 march in Warsaw and the following days, Belarusians, participants in actions abroad, asked me to draw the attention of European politicians to crimes committed by the Lukashenko government against Belarusians surviving in EU countries: criminal cases, non-objective sentences (so-called “special proceedings”), blackmail, threats, persecution of relatives and friends in Belarus by the peculiar services of the regime, confiscation of property, etc.”, Latusz noted.

The European Parliament in its resolution "considers the persecution of Belarusian citizens as their peaceful democratic activity abroad by means of peculiar proceedings of the Committee of Investigation for a direct violation of the territorial sovereignty of EU associate States" and "calls for pan-European legal support and protection of Belarusians in exile", including those incapable to update their identity documents.

The European Parliament "also calls on the global Criminal Court to velocity up the investigation of crimes against humanity committed by the Lukashenko regime".

In addition, the paper calls for “additional sanctions akin to those applied to Russia, in peculiar to officials liable for repression”.

The European Parliament besides stresses the request to strengthen political, financial and method support for independent media, human rights defenders and citizens' initiatives.

“I am grateful to the members of the European Parliament and personally to Mr Kobosko for his position and concrete actions in consequence to the fresh repression of the Lukashenko regime. This is simply a message for the dictator: crimes against Belarusians abroad will not stay unpunished. force needs to be increased, sanctions extended and concrete action sought to halt panic against Belarusians both in Belarus and beyond," said Paweł Latuszka.
