Nigel Farage faces mounting pressure to sack a Reform UK mayoral candidate who has doubled down on racist comments telling Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy to "go home to the Caribbean." Chris Parry, Reform UK's candidate for Hampshire and the Solent, has defended social media posts that the Labour Party describes as "racist and grossly offensive."

Parry posted on X in February: «Lammy must go home to the Caribbean where (his) loyalty lies.» When challenged about the comment recently, the retired Royal Navy officer defended his position, writing: «Well, home is where the heart is. That's the point,» according to a reply first reported by the Independent newspaper.

Lammy was born in London to Guyanese parents. Parry also referenced Enoch Powell's infamous "Rivers of Blood" speech from the 1960s, describing the Tory politician as «unfulfilled.»

Labour demands action

Anna Turley, Labour Party chairwoman, called for immediate consequences: «How big does the mountain of racist and grossly offensive comments Chris Parry has made have to get before Nigel Farage throws him out of Reform? It's disgraceful.»

She added: «Farage's refusal to take action against racism in his party shows what a dark place he's dragging politics to. He should finally drop Chris Parry as a candidate, kick him out of his party, and apologise for failing to take action sooner.»

Senior Reform UK figures have declined to comment on Parry's posts in recent weeks. Reform UK was contacted for comment.
