On 12 May 2026, the centennial of the military coup was unfortunately an effective coup d'état performed by Józef Piłsudski and his supporters.
This attack was highly bloody; according to authoritative (probably understated) information (i.e. the walsudczykowskis), it absorbed in just 3 days over 400 fatalities and at least twice as many wounded. Polish soldiers shot at each other: any in defence of the Polish State (great but essential words), others in the name of the political ambitions of the purgatory, who in 1920 gave himself the honorary title of "marszał", due to the fact that there was no military degree. He had previously awarded himself as the Chief of State the highest state award. Civilians were besides killed due to the fact that the fighting took place in a large, populous city. Even to this day, the victims of the assassination were not formally commemorated, and (even symbolically) its authors and performers were not punished.
We know that the other is true: Joseph Piłsudski has thousands of monuments, his name is called streets and squares in hundreds of towns (even in Wrocław, or the city he considered to be “German cores”). To this day, many active politicians keep the worship of the Marshal, even though he gained power illegally and effectively destroyed the democratic strategy of our country by introducing authoritarian governments. The power gained erstwhile no longer gave, ruled until his death in 1935. The pitiful destiny (or indeed it is sickness and mediocre health) spared him his participation in the full state sanitation disaster in September 1939, which destroyed his German protector from the erstwhile war together with the Bolshevik state. I will remind you (which I do not want to remember) that since 1916, previously created by the Austrian Legion authorities (where he was the commander of 1 of the 3 brigades – he was never the commander of the full Legions) they went to the command and the German pay, they were converted to Polnische Wehrmacht, and he became a advanced authoritative of the "Council of State", a Mariannetic office of the occupying authorities operating under the 2 states of the invaders – the German Empire and Austro-Hungarian. The lands of the erstwhile “Kingdom of Poland” – the Russian partition – were occupied. In pictorial terms, he was a subordinate of 2 invaders who occupied Polish lands, previously under the authority of the 3rd possessor, or Russia.
By November 1918, or until the fall of imperial Germany, he had collected a brigadier wage from the occupier, even erstwhile he was in honorary detention in Magdeburg. After his release from this detention, he was sent by the fallen German authorities to Warsaw by a train which consisted of a locomotive and 1 carriage in the ace of German intelligence officers. Then time runs very quickly: the equally grotesque body appointed by the German-Austrian invaders (the "Regency Council") entrusts him with command over Polnische Wehrmacht, then dissolves and transmits to him his "power" given to him by the possessor, which he was to pass on to the "national government". What he did not do, he appointed himself “Temporary Chief of State”.
This is to remind you of the way to power of individual who is frequently referred to as “The Father of Independence”. I would besides like to remind you that the government appointed by him in 1918 under the chairmanship of socialist Jędrzej Moraczewski was immediately recognized by the authorities in Berlin, and no longer by the state of the victorious Ententa. The past is much different from the current Sanctionary Legend.
To this day, they are no closer known to the public as the scene of a coup from 100 years ago. Sometimes a half-dozen mentions the function of British intelligence, which was said to have not only been fingered but was its initiator. What is notable, this assassination was supported by Polish communists, or Communist organization of Poland, or alternatively it is certain that they did not do so without cognition and compatible (commands?) from Bolshevik Moscow. We know something about support for this assassination by Weimar Berlin, who was an enemy of the pro-French regulation in Warsaw.
Importantly, the attitude to this assassination of both our main neighbours, the Bolshevik russian Union and Weimary Germany, was not hostile. Both countries were governed by socialists, and Piłsudski was rightly seen as a leftist politician. He had known the Bolshevik elite for over 20 years, and I will remind you that then in Moscow Polish-speaking politicians had large influence and they were not only Polish Jews. Both neighbouring states were anti-French, and Paris had to Piłsudski a ratio at least distanced. As a consequence of this assassination, French influences in Warsaw began to weaken, and after all it was our only ally from among the powers. The state sanctification finale is known.
