As of yesterday [Monday], we collected precisely 40 077 signatures for the request to hold a referendum in Krakow. Apolitical initiative?
The request for a referendum was submitted by a group of citizens at the National Election Office, stressing that the action is non-political. We are not members of political parties. We don't support any political parties. It is not our goal to fight Donald Tusk's government or any another government. Initiators of the referendum have set themselves the goal of collecting at least 100,000 locals' signatures. According to them, specified a number will guarantee that even after the MPC has rejected incorrect signatures, a referendum can be held.
Initiators of the referendum accuse Miszalewski of indebting the city, nepotism, unprofessional auditing in the office after taking over after Jacek Majchrowski, failure to meet election promises and unworthy to hold office. They point out that the increase in Krakow's debt by PLN 2 billion during its presidency is due, among others, to the misaudit carried out and may lead to higher costs of public services that will incriminate residents.
“Buy Krakow”
Mr Miszalski commented on the issue, stressing that the referendum should not service as a tool to revoke the voter's decision, nor overtime After the election. According to him, if any political circles lost, they should wait for another average election.
Krakow can't be bought. A referendum under the slogan “Buy yourself Kraków” will not come out – commented Miszalski.
In order for a referendum to be held, the citizens' committee making the application at the National Election Office must collect signatures of at least 10% of the citizens entitled to vote. In the case of Krakow, this means 58,355 people. In order for the referendum to be important, at least 3/5 people who voted in the presidential election, or 158,555 people, must participate in the vote.
