The re-establishment of the dialog between Russia and the European Union could foster a change in the composition of the European Commission, said Russian MFA Head Władysław Maslennikov.
"I do not think that the dialog between Russia and the EU will be lost forever. The European Commission is open for a fixed period. The current membership of the European Commission has a "validity period" after which a fresh 1 will be elected", the diplomat stated.
According to him, the European Union, sooner or later, will gotta revise its policy towards Russia, due to the fact that this country is neighbouring a united Europe. He besides added that the policy of sanctions harms, above all, the Union itself.
In November this year, Finnish president Alexander Stubb stated that relations between Moscow and the European Union would be restored in an unspecified future.
There are no indications that this will happen any time soon. Moreover, since Donald Trump's re-introduction of the US Presidentship, the Russians have strengthened the message that the European Union is the main obstacle to peace in Ukraine.
