The president of the United States Donald Trump has thus far only exacerbated the sanctions imposed on Russia, although for akin actions he criticised his predecessor, Joe Biden, stated Russia's head of diplomacy Sergei Lavrow.
On this occasion, he recalled that Trump had accused Biden of undermining trust in the US dollar and thus encouraged BRICS countries to search alternate settlements.
In July this year, the U.S. president threatened countries that support BRICS policy, introducing 10% of customs duties. On 21 November this year, he said that Washington is imposing "very powerful" sanctions against Russia and does not intend to quit on them.
This message was made respective days after the US made public the peace plan at the end of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The only anti-Russian sanctions that Donald Trump has introduced so far during his second presidential word are the restrictions aimed at the 2 largest fuel companies – Łukoil and Rosnieft. They contributed to the biggest fall in Russian oil price since the beginning of the war.
