Sikorski acknowledged that Trump's words about the US taking control of Gaza and creating the “riviera of the mediate East” there echoed widely and caused much controversy. "I think that if the United States wants to take work for security, for reconstruction, for feeding the people of Gaza, this is simply a proposal we should consider," he said. At the same time, however, he considered the plans to resettle Palestinians to neighbouring countries to be impossible.
The Minister stressed that Poland recognises the statehood of Palestine and believes that "nothing should happen without the participation of the Palestinians themselves".
When asked if he thought Trump's words about the displacement of the Palestinian population would provoke terrorist attacks against Americans and US allies, including Poles, Sikorski replied that he would first like to realize more clearly what Trump meant by his plans towards the Gaza Strip. “ What the President’s words mean, you gotta ask the United States alone,” he added.
Donald Trump's thought for Gaza
Trump stated on Tuesday at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Binjamin Netanyahu that the US would take control of Gaza. He announced that the Americans would level the area to the ground, make an “unlimited number of jobs” and a hotel where “international people” will live, including Palestinians. At the same time, he said that the residents of the region should be resettled to neighbouring arabian countries, which would at their expense build for them places to live in "peace and harmony".
This announcement was met with criticism from many countries in the planet and Palestinian Hamas.
