On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers adopted a bill on aid to Ukrainians in Poland. Minister Marcin Kierwiński informed about this at a press conference after the government meeting.

The fresh government responds to the veto of president Karol Nawrocki, who rejected the earlier Act on Time Protection for Ukrainians. Kierzinski stressed that the government presents a comprehensive solution to the problem.

Two pillars of the fresh legislation

"In this bill we come out with 2 pillars of the proposal: the first issue is simply a comprehensive regulation of benefits for all foreigners who here in Poland stay (...) with comprehensive solutions for all benefits paid to foreigners legally residing in Poland, regardless of their nationality" - said the minister. The Act includes benefits of 800 plus, Good start and active parents.

However, the fresh regulations introduce crucial restrictions on access to aid. "Services will depend on the person's professional activity here in Poland" - explained Kierwiński.

Exceptions and strategy control

The exception to the rule of professional activity applies to children with disabilities. However, they must get a certificate from Polish institutions.

The full strategy will be based on information about ZUS contributions. "We seal this system" - stressed the minister, pointing to the usage of ZUS systems for verification of allowances.
