According to the German paper "Die Welt", Putin plans to completely occupy the Ukrainian regions by 2026 and is preparing for an escalation of the conflict. "Russia is not presently planning a direct conflict with the West, but is preparing for a war with NATO," says Christian Freuding, Major General of the Bundeswehr.
