Putin announces autumn draft: 135 000 fresh recruits in the army

The Ministry of Defence ensures that the draft is planned and is not formally linked to the ongoing ‘special military operation’ against Ukraine. The authorities stress that recruits will not be sent to the front but are to service exclusively in units stationed in Russia. The duration of service shall stay unchanged and shall be 12 months.
