The findings made by a high-ranking typical of the U.S. administration and a congressional authoritative show that the latest analysis of American intelligence warns against the increasing determination of Russian president Vladimir Putin to proceed the war in Ukraine and prosecute military victory. The document, which went to members of the U.S. legislature this month, underlines that intelligence agencies do not see any signs of Moscow's readiness to compromise on Ukraine – even though United States president Donald Trump is attempting to mediate in peace talks.
According to intelligence analysis, in view of the serious losses of the Russian army and economical difficulties in the country, Vladimir Putin seeks to take control of Ukrainian territories and grow Russia's influences to justify human and financial casualties.
Trump learned his lesson
In a motion of increasing frustration, Donald Trump cancelled a planned gathering with Vladimir Putin in Budapest last week and first imposed sanctions on Russia. It can be seen that his rhetoric has late undergone noticeable change. Trump is increasingly expressing discontent and impatience towards Putin, accusing him of deficiency of concrete action confirming the declarations made during their talks.
Every time I talk to Vladimir, I have good conversations, and then nothing comes out of them. It just doesn't come out. said Trump last week.
Crimes Against Humanity
At the same time, the latest United Nations study accuses Russia of committing crimes against humanity through drone attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, as well as of committing war crimes related to forced displacement of residents.
The UN study shows that the drone attacks analysed by the committee were regularly targeted at residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, humanitarian aid distribution facilities, power stations and schools. The Commission has established that these actions were of a targeted nature and were part of an organised strategy aimed at displacing civilians from occupied areas.
As reported in the report, since July 2024 more than 200 civilians have been killed in the Djepropetrovsk, Kherson and Mikołajov regions in the south of Ukraine, and more than 2000 were injured.
