The proposal to end the war on terms of Moscow and Washington is threatening in Europe. Giving Russia occupied by Ukraine in exchange for natural materials is not peace – it is simply a surrender and an invitation to a fresh conflict – writes the German paper "Münchner Merkur". There are comparisons to the 1939 Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, which led to the partition of Poland.
