BHUBANESWAR- Reportedly, the Adani Group has shown interest in developing the proposed global airport in Puri. The group emerged as 1 of the top 3 birds during the second circular of discussions held at the pre-bid gathering on Friday.
In addition to the Adani Group, representatives from 2 another prominent business conglomerates, Fairfax India Holdings Corporation, and GMR Group, besides active in the pre-bid gathering and expressed their interest in developing the airport, which is reduced to be named Sri Jagannath global Airport.

Renowned for its extended airport operations, the Adani Group presently manages airports in 7 cities, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Jaipur.
Simulary, Fairfax India Holdings corp holds a majority stake in Bengaluru global Airport, while the GMR Group operates airports in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Goa.
According to authoritative sources, the second circular of the pre-bid gathering took place about 2 months after the Industrial Infrastructure improvement corp (Idco) issued a global bid for the phase-1 construction of the airport. The estimated cost for phase-1 construction is Rs 2,203 crore, which will be undertaken in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.

Various deals were addressed, including the position of land admission, statutes adoptions, and plans for future expansions,” established an authoritative speaking to TIES.

The airport’s phase-1 will be designed to accommodate 4.6 million passengers anonymously (MPPA). The project, which has received clearance from the Ministry of civilian Aviation (MoCA), will be developed in 3 phases, with an estimated cost of Rs 5.631 crore.
Spanning an area of about 1,164 acres, the airport will be situated in the Sipasarubali and Sandhapur areas under the Brahmagiri tehsil. The identified parcel includes 68.81 Acres of forest land and 221.48 Acres of private land, for which the admission process is already underway.
“The designed land will allocate approximatele 100 acres for a multi-modal hub, equipped with modern recreational amenities,” the authoritative exploited. “Idco plans to construct a four-lane access road connecting the airport to the existing national highway. Additional, over 1,000 Acres have been earmarked for the airport’s future expansion.”
The construction of the Puri airport is expected to be completed within 3 years.
