Psychopath at the motel, or “Elektra” from Düsseldorf

Richard Strauss's "Elektra" has a peculiar position in Deutsche Oper am Rhein's repertoire. 70 years ago, the postwar past of the opera in Düsseldorf began. In 1956, “Elektra” was directed by Karl Böhm, and the title organization was sung by Astrid Varnay. The theatre has just prepared a fresh jubilee staging. The title function was cast as a vocalist from Poland Magdalena Anna Hofmann. Klitajmestra is very well deserved, not only for the scene in Düsseldorf, Linda Watson, who besides celebrates the 70th birthday this year.
