In fresh days, the media has discussed the detention of a caregiver from a hospice in Lubin (Lower Silesia) suspected of exposing patients to the hazard of failure of life or severe injury to health. The 50-year-old was expected to administer multiple doses of medicinal products, including opioids, as predicted by palliative therapy. This case has caused many emotions among patients, their families, and medical personnel.
Investigation of a nurse
According to the asp. staff. Krzysztof Pawlik of the Lubinian police, a caregiver was detained on 10 March this year and heard the charge of exposing an undetermined number of patients to life and wellness failure by giving unreasonable treatment. The detainee was to operate from January 2023 to March 2025. The caregiver did not plead guilty and refused to explain.
Preventive measures against nurses
Preventive measures have been taken against the detained nurse, including police supervision, suspension of professional duties and property guarantees. A female must not contact another employees of the facility or conduct medical activities. There's an investigation under the supervision of the D.A. The Regional wellness Center infirmary in Lubin, where the hospice operates, confirmed that the caregiver was detained by the police. “The facility provided the essential papers to the officers for analysis, in full cooperation with the authorities of the state, to aid clarify any doubts,” said the president of the Board, manager of the Regional wellness Centre in Lubin, Dr. Małgorzata Bacia.
Hospital follow-up
The directorate of the facility took control. The caregiver was immediately removed from work, and after being made aware of her actions against her by the board, she was removed from work. At the time of detention, the caregiver was at notice, after the termination of the employment contract on her initiative respective days earlier.
