The Rules of Procedure, Members' Affairs and Immunities Committee examined on Wednesday a request for consent to detain and forced Zbigniew Ziobra to be brought before the Pegasus Committee of Inquiry.
16 Members took part in the vote in the committee meeting, 10 were in favour, 6 against, no 1 abstained. “The Commission will submit a proposal to the Sejm to accept the proposal,” said Jarosław Urbaniak (KO).
The tensions at the committee meeting
In turn, during the sitting, Members rejected the proposal of Vice-President Kazimierz Smoliński. Mr PiS argued that the Pegasus committee was acting illegally.
– I wanted to make a formal motion for the committee to reject the motion made by the lawyer General due to the fact that it was made by your prosecutor, as a consequence of an application made by an unauthorised body which does not be legally. I remind you that the Constitutional Court ruled that the resolution of the Sejm on the appointment of this committee (D. Pegasus – ed.) was incompatible with the constitution, said Smolinski. –
The lawyer General should no longer accept this proposal," he added.
