On 14 April the National March of Life was held in Warsaw. According to the organizers, more than 50,000 people attended the convention. Participants demonstrated their support for the protection of unborn life and called for the rejection of the bill to liberalise abortion.
The Sunday march in defence of life left Castle Square at 12:30 p.m. on the streets of Warsaw arrived at 3 Cross Square, where many speeches of invited guests were held. Many public individuals actively active in promoting the protection of the right to life participated in the convention.
During the walk there were postulates specified as “Poland for life”, “The Wave of Life”, “Long Live Poland”, “Brond of life not from hiding” or “Everybody has the right to life”.
The National March of Life was sponsored by the Polish Episcopal Conference. Archbishop Tadeusz Wojdak appealed to Catholics for prayer in the intention of a conceived life.
In all churches after the Mass, I ask you to pray for this intention. I trust that the efforts of millions of people of good will will consequence in even greater protection of the life of the unborn," wrote the hierarch in his appeal.
At the end of the march, the organizers read the Resolutions of the National March of Life 2024, in which the content was requested to retreat from fresh abortion projects by the Polish Parliament, which are a critical violation of the fundamental right to all human life:
As Poles liable for the future of Homeland and the rights of all man surviving under the sovereign authority of the Republic, we, participants of the National March of Life, request the immediate abandonment of the subversive actions of the current government and the government's parliamentary majority against the natural right to life, as confirmed in the Constitution of the Republic – said the organizers.
During the presentation of the text, the organizers besides showed that abortion projects voted last week, in fact, are against the law and unconstitutional:
We besides remind that, as the Constitutional Court confirms in its ruling of 28 May 1997, “life in a democratic state of law must stay under constitutional protection at all phase of its development. Negotiating this fact is aimed at the rights of the individual as well as the authority and order of the Republic.” We call for an urgent re-assignment to the Constitutional Court of the request to examine compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of sex of the Istanbul Convention. We express a strong disapproval of this obligation, which has been declared.
The authors of the Resolution of the National March of Life 2024, as well as the organizers of the march, are the Foundation of St. Benedict and the Coalition for Life and household cooperating with it. For many years these environments have been engaged in multi-vector activities in the field of promoting and protecting Christian culture.
On Thursday, April 12, a fewer days before the passage of the National March of Life, the Polish parliament began to run 3 laws liberalising abortion laws, submitted by clubs forming part of the governing coalition; the 3rd Road, the Left, and the Civic Coalition. no of these projects were rejected at first reading, so they all went further in the extraordinary committee. On the same day, pro-life communities organized demonstrations in the area of the Sejm, in which they criticized the actions of the pro-abortion lobby and left-wing lobby.
