U.S. breakthrough: national court blocks postal distribution of abortion pills

The U.S. Court of Appeal has suspended the application of regulations that have enabled the ordering of abortion pills over the net and receiving them by post without visiting a doctor, without medical supervision, without any state boundaries.

A national appeal court in the United States issued a ruling that could permanently change the face of abortion politics in that country. The judges temporarily suspended the anticipation of distant prescriptions on mifepriston and its distribution by post. A measurement that accounts for nearly sixty percent of all deaths of unborn children in the United States. For tens of thousands of unborn children, this could mean a chance of life.

The court's decision fits into the broader current legal changes initiated by the landmark ultimate Court ruling of 2022, erstwhile national guarantees of abortion rights were waived, and competence in this substance was delegated to individual states.

The court divided the state of Louisiana's argument that challenged the regulations introduced for Joe Biden's administration. The allegation was circumstantial and well-concerned: national rules facilitating access to mifepriston violate state law protecting human life and besides force state authorities to finance the program Medicaid to treat complications resulting from this medicine. It was not an ideological dispute – it was a dispute over state sovereignty and taxpayers' money.

The lower court previously considered that distant prescription of mifepriston was acceptable. The appeal court disagreed with this assessment, at least temporarily. The case may go before the ultimate Court, announced by Danco Laboratories, 1 of 2 drug distributors in the US.

The environment of life defenders have been calling on president Donald Trump for months to reconstruct the request for a individual medical visit to prescribe mifepriston. The abolition of this request by the Biden administration was considered a motion towards the abortion lobby, which in practice opened up unrestricted access to pharmacological abortion across the country – including in states where abortion is legally prohibited or restricted. Louisiana belongs to those states with the most stringent government and its authorities consistently defend the adopted regulations at all levels of the judiciary.

Human dignity is inalienable and rooted in the act of creation itself. "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you"--the words of the prophet Jeremiah lost nothing of their actuality. So all decision that puts a dam of death culture is more than a judicial judgement is simply a sign of hope.

It is worth remembering that since the 2022 judgment, about 20 U.S. states have completely banned or severely restricted abortion on request. This means that millions of Americans present live in places where the law, at least to any extent, stands for unborn children. The current decision of the Court of Appeal is another step on this road.
