On May 27, scientists will protest. Unfortunately, I have a conference in Gdansk at this time, but I signed a petition of 3% of GDP for science.
Today I went to the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences to do any difractometric measurements. In my experience, it should take about six hours. However, it turned out that the difractometer had a 6-year-old X-ray tube, which has only 20% of its performance. The measurement alternatively of 6 hours takes 30 hours.
The lamp costs $40,000, and the difractometer alone costs 2 million. utilizing it in 20% is an idiotic and 80% failure of the difractometer value.
The Institute of Physics cannot afford to buy a fresh lamp.
That's why I urge you all to go to the Parliament on 27 May at 1 p.m. 3% for science, 100% for Poland.
