Proposals for nominations to the Legion of Honour will besides be able to be submitted by citizens

From this year, the French will be able to nominate their candidates for the Légion d'Honneur – France's highest state decoration. The Order, established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, is awarded to civilians and military personnel, French citizens and foreigners, who have rendered peculiar services to France. The president of France decides whether to accept the nomination.
