Professor Wielomski educates U.S. Ambassador on Hanuki

Author: BlackLimozine, December 17, 2025

US Ambassador to Poland Thomas Rose wrote on X, trying to rather cleverly combine Hanukkah with the past of Poland.

Hanuka is the first always documented conflict for spiritual and political freedom – a tiny nation refusing to surrender its faith, identity and future to greater powers. This is the past of war on Hellenistic paganism, whose intent was to erase the Bible and to banish God from human memory, led by a nation that understood that endurance without dignity is not survival.

Hanukkah's past is not simply judaic history; it appeals to all nation forced to defend its religion and character; it says freedom requires eternal vigilance; and erstwhile a lost identity can seldom be recovered.

This machabeic instinct powerfully resonates here in Poland. For centuries Poland has chosen opposition alternatively of erasure, identity alternatively of surrender alternatively of disappearance. ...

Hanukkah, the past of Poland and Sydney teach the same lesson: civilization will only last if evil is fought mercilessly, culture will be defended without apology, and free people will never surrender.

The Gospel of Saint John describes how the Jews celebrating Hanukkah wanted to execution Jesus
