Professor Andrzej Nowak : Remove the rudeness from power.
date:24 October 2025 Editor: Anna

On October 24, 2025, a program convention of Law and Justice was launched in Katowice under the slogan “Thinking Poland”, attended by prof. Andrzej Nowak, an outstanding Polish historian, author of the monumental series “Dzeczy Polski” and many another widely published books published by the White Kruk Publishing House.

The prof. didn't beat around the bush! He spoke straight about what threatens Poland – the failure of memory, the decline of births, the failure of identity and rudeness, which is increasingly dominant in public life.

In the plenary session entitled "Who are Poles? Our national identity against contemporary cultural and civilizational challenges" Prof. Nowak emphasized the importance of humanity and national identity in the face of contemporary challenges. He pointed out that modern anti-civilization ideology “is not just about questioning the function of states, national identities in fact. It is about emancipation from humanity."
Referring to the words of Lech Kaczyński, he recalled that “it was worth being a Pole,” while at the same time cautioning against ideology that suggests that “it is not worth being a man.”
"It is simply a shame to be human due to the fact that nature is breaking down. You shouldn't have children due to the fact that all kid leaves a increasing carbon footprint behind. And so, under the noble ideological slogans of liberation of nature or transcendence of nature, due to the fact that both these slogans happen together, the tendency to depopulate the planet is justified."
Prof. Nowak emphasized the dramatic demographic situation of Poland and the threat to national identity. He pointed out that only 180 000 births were recorded in 2024, which could reduce the number of inhabitants of the country to 10 million over the century. As he said, "if we don't halt this process, in the year 2100 there would be a maximum of 10 million inhabitants."
"Material incentives are not enough," said the historian. It is essential to "change the cultural, civilizational attitude that it is worth prolonging this species, that it is worth maintaining a culture".
Turning to the final point of his speech in this part of the discussion, prof. Andrzej Nowak recalled Maurycy Mochnacki, pointing out that memory plays a key function in preserving identity: "without remembering Polish culture, about the historical experience of Polish" cannot be answered to the question of who Poles are.
"Memoirs which, of course, do not request to be so deep as to memorize all dates, have in head all the thick books devoted to Polish history, but canon of certain events, phenomena, characters; and this canon, which is located in a certain strand of identity, allows us to realize what we carry together, what is worth carrying further, what is worth embellishing, expand".
Historian pointed out that the modern life of the minute "without reasoning about what will happen in a second" leads to the failure of culture and identity, which is why the state's action in the field of education and cultural institutions is essential to defend and strengthen historical memory.
In summary, Prof. Nowak pointed out that demographic threats, deficiency of memory and degradation of culture are the actual demolition of the nation. He called for the defence of humanity, national identity and education, and for the removal from power of those who do not respect fundamental social and national values.
