Professor Marcin Matczak gave an interview to the fact that he referred to the large emotion, both in the media and among politicians, about possible irregularities during the fresh presidential election.
– Any mistake, and all the more deliberate manipulation erstwhile counting votes, weakens assurance in democracy. And democracy without trust – it does not work – said the lawyer.
According to the professor, recalculation of votes where doubts arise is justified and necessary. And "especially where the number of invalid votes deviates importantly from the norm or serious irregularities have been reported".
Matczak stressed that the validity of elections should be decided by an independent court. He noted that the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs did not meet this criterion.
As he said, her position as a court is besides contested by the Court of Justice of the European Union. "Her decision will not give the president adequate legitimacy to hold office," he said.
As we wrote in NaTemat.pl, there were mistakes in respective electoral committees erstwhile counting votes. Consequently, the ultimate Court decision, in any localities, the votes are re-examined. 1 specified case is Oblast Election Commission No 25 in Grudziądz (Kujawsko-pomorskie province).
– The votes were counted correctly, the committee misrecorded the results. The voices of Karol Nawrocki were recorded by Rafał Trzaskowski and vice-president of the Grudziądz territory Court, Andrzej Antkiewicz, said in an interview with Radio Eska. According to the correction, Rafał Trzaskowski won 504 votes and Karol Nawrocki 324.
Similar irregularities were besides detected in Bielsko-Biała. On Wednesday, the territory Court, erstwhile examining ballots from 2 committees, found errors. In 1 committee the votes were replaced between the candidates, in the another – 160 votes cast for Rafał Trzaskowski were attributed to Karol Nawrock. You can read more about this here.
