Prof. Andrzej Nowak: The voice of an old voter for younger people
date:19 February 2024 Editor: GKut

Below is the text of the appeal by prof. Andrzej Nowak on the Arcana Portal (https://portal.arcana.pl/Glos-old-electoral-with-think-about-younger,4646.html) .

"The Lord assumed work not only for Poland's place in the political scenery of Europe and the planet of those years, but besides for the practical, regular answer to the question: whether the Polish State is to service the freedom of Polish thought or to regulate it". With these, possibly besides pathetic words, I finished an open letter to Jarosław Kaczyński, published in December 2018 as an appeal to halt the destructive Polish humanities changes which were being introduced by the Law and Justice Government, specifically Deputy Prime Minister Gowin.

The letter was signed by many excellent artists and researchers (including Jarosław Marek Rymkiewicz, Zofia Zielińska, Tomasz Schramm, Anna Grześkowiak-Krwavicz, Władysław Zajewski, Krzysztof Dybciak, Wojciech Roszkowski, Jacek Bartyzel). There was no answer on this letter (or on many other, similar, in the same case) – no consequence from the addressee.

Today, in 2024, I talk only in my own name: Jarosław Kaczyński unfortunately no longer met this large responsibility, which he himself accepted.

The most brutal evidence of this is the consequence of fresh parliamentary elections in Poland. I don't mean just the fact that the Law and Justice organization lost this election, that is, they had to quit legislative and executive power in the state. I'm talking about the consequences of this loss. I am talking about the full helplessness of the opposition organization in its current form against the methods of taking over the government by the coalition on 13 December. I am besides talking about the apparent deficiency of PiS's preparation in case, which was foreseeable: an election defeat with a rival who will not follow any rules of democracy, decency, or the right after gaining power.

Jarosław Kaczyński said after the final election that he took full work for their outcome. What is the responsibility? I'm just going to name a fewer of her areas, with a longer list of errors and omissions.

First of all: the deficiency of explanation and accounting for what happened on April 10, 2010, and in any case what could be explained – besides to the public – is devastating for the interests and dignity of the Polish government's actions of Donald Tusk. Let us remind: that government gave the case of the investigation of the fact (and all the evidence) about the death of the president of Poland and the accompanying 95 fellow citizens of our state into the hands of the murderers Politkowska, Litvinenko, Magnicki and hundreds of another little celebrated victims. Like the earlier aggression against Georgia, like the Chechen genocide – it was the work of the same Russian leader and his “subcontractors” – specified as the Shojg Minister (who “cleaned” in Smolensk), General Anodina, Prosecutor of Czajka. The Tusk Government has agreed that the latter, who has carried out the Putinian investigation into the execution of Litvinenko and in Mikhail Chodorkowski's trial, will be given the function of the chief supervisor of the “Truth of Smolensk”...

Law and Justice took power in Poland in 2015. A year after Russia's first open aggression against Ukraine, erstwhile it was no longer possible to talk out about Putin's criminal nature – even in its friendly capitals specified as Paris and Berlin. And erstwhile did the parliamentary committee of enquiry begin to analyse Russian influences in Poland? A period before the 2023 election... It is hard to find a clearer example of negligence. If specified a committee had started its work even in February 2022, just after Russia's already full-scale aggression against Ukraine, how much harder it would have been to "scream" its media action, undermine its meaning and the evidence presented during it. How much harder would it be to return in a triumphant chariot to the Village and Ujazdowski Avenues to Donald Tusk and his sidekicks in the work of the “reset” with Vladimir Putin...

No memorials to president Lech Kaczyński will cover this negligence. You can see how easy the fresh power will be able to “handle” with any monument built by the predecessors.

Second example. "Without reliable information, there is no democracy. The most secret and unfettered elections are fictional erstwhile hiding from the public what is happening" (Barbara Toporska). Meanwhile, the president of the Law and Justice Office has just stated – over 3 months after the election defeat – that he will support the establishment of a strong, power-independent media centre and "create large private television". Again, there is simply a simple question: what could be done in this crucial substance for 8 years of governance? No projects have been effectively supported to build strong, independent from political power, media centres, capable of competing with the largest televisions or portals that have "scape" the minds and imagination of not only children, but besides most of today's 40-50-year-olds. I'm not going to make that thread. I am just saying that it is precisely the commitment of today's winners to control over more than 95 percent of the media marketplace that will be hard to overcome the obstacle to bringing our fellow citizens back to reality. Unfortunately, the strongest and no alternative, and the test in another strong media, the creators of unreality, can effectively (at least to a certain point) draw from it. Those who will convince effectively about the policy of love PO, about smiling Poland Donald Tusk, about the wonderful economical improvement initiatives that the fresh government will make and supply us all not only love, but besides prosperity and security. And the Law and Justice will only be under the conditions of this “love policy” of the government of Donald Tusk, he built “strong and independent television” in 2025? I regret commenting on these announcements.

Example three: the issue of humanities, discipline and especially education mentioned at the outset. Who is entrusted with these essential areas by Jarosław Kaczyński: in the first government of PiS (2006-2007) to Roman Giertych, and in the second government (2005-2020) to Jarosław Gowin. I know that this is the consequence of the division of roles within the coalition, but seemingly these portfolios: the Minister of Education and the Minister of Science, the president of the Law and Justice Department considered so insignificant that he gave them to specified coalitions. "A good change" to education only started to introduce vigorous Przemysław Czarnek – but only in the last 2 years of the existence of the Law and Justice. Why was the subject of past and the present, which was expected to aid fight youth illiteracy in the past of the latest Poland and the world, added only in the last year of these governments? Why was Prime Minister Gowin not only allowed to continue, but fundamentally deepen for six years the catastrophe of Polish humanities that the erstwhile Tusk governments had begun and what is meant to lead to gathering the ever-increasing standards of political correctness? Apparently, it's not considered important.

Fourth case: attitude to local elections. I wrote about it after erstwhile elections, erstwhile as a citizen of Krakow I was shocked by specified ostentatious disregard. Appointed by the president only a fewer weeks before the election date of the candidate for the dignity of president Krakow, she was just busy with a completely fruitless committee of enquiry into the Amber Gold affair and she did not have time for any election campaign, nor seemingly a desire. The consequence was apparent to predict: as you ignore the election and voters, you cannot win. Today, it is February 17, 2024, six weeks before the date of the next local elections, the Law and Justice Office has not even indicated its candidate or candidate in Krakow yet. This is no longer an insult, it is simply a contempt shown to the inhabitants of a million-year-old city – and it is the same in so many others. Now there should be a candidate for the City President's office for the elections that will take place in 4 years, not six weeks! It is essential to gather all the information about what is crucial and will be for the community in the coming years – and to choice a squad of people who can make a program for the city due to the fact that they are connected to it, and then they will be ready to implement it. And what are local elections for the president of the inactive largest organization in Poland? Trouble? A way to play a organization policy strove?

Unfortunately, by the way, the elections to the European Parliament are treated precisely the same: as a way to reward (by nomination for the "taken" place in these elections and then a lucrative position) the most obedient activists. So the organization is the most crucial – is Poland and the quality of its representation in Europe?

I know, 1 can trust on the argument that in order to effectively service Poland in political life it is essential to have a organization – due to the fact that that is how life is (or was it?) constructed in everyone, or at least most democratic systems in the world. And it is essential to add that the Law and Justice in many key for the economical improvement of Poland, the prosperity and safety of its inhabitants in times of peculiarly dangerous service did very well. simply due to the fact that this organization was driven by patriotism: the sense of interest of our homeland and the desire to preserve its independence.

But present we gotta ask ourselves: will this service of the Law and Justice proceed to be so effective? Without an account of conscience on our side of the dispute over the future of Poland, without the resulting changes in the way of action, it is hard to imagine the success of this opposition in subsequent elections. The presidential elections in 2025 will be crucial in this respect (as they were 20 and 10 years earlier). So there's not much time. We do not know whether external forces, curious in further limiting Poland's sovereign capabilities or its full objectivity (as our east neighbours talk directly) and utilizing its systematic weakening of the civilian war, will let us to choose freely. However, we should now act as if we had this choice. And fight for his behaviour for the future.

The first step towards restoring hope of effectiveness is to correct your own mistakes. prof. Andrzej Waśko pointed out this request very well in the post-election analysis of the latest issue of the bimonthly “Arcan”: “Practical moves – not slogans – are needed to rebuild the agreement within the patriotic part of society. We must limit the chief monologue and return to the dialog form of relations within our own camp. People who can think politically and actively must be given the feeling that they can actually participate in the work for Poland. You gotta look for people like that everywhere due to the fact that they're everywhere. besides in cities, among staff of science, culture and education, among students and young people."

Can Jarosław Kaczyński change the way he operates and manages the party? Can he change his image, so perfectly created and utilized by Donald Tusk and supporting the media front? Only a situation in which, other the approaching 70th “cesar of Europe” from the Platform, the leader of “young, smiling Poland” will be able to stand a lot younger and shout: this emperor of yours is naked, old, ugly and there is nothing good to offer us – only then will specified a real message have a chance to scope the voters: both to any part of those who have been so long threatened by “dictator of Żoliborz” and to those new, discouraged by the 3 decades-long duel of people from the past.

Ready to go is simply a measurement of maturity. It is bitter wisdom in the experience of all those who have lived long enough. I appealed publicly, 8 and a half years ago, immediately after the election of Andrzej Duda as president, to Jarosław Kaczyński to identify individual young to take up a fresh energy fight for election votes as the fresh leader of the future government. possibly I was wrong.

However, in 2024 I dare say this again, more clearly: it is essential to change the relay of generations building Poland or, as now, to fight the large dangers for its very existence again.

In order to scope fresh supporters and not to lose existing ones, the ability to "play wings" is needed. In a situation of full war, which fresh power seems to enjoy the top support of political formation voters and nearly 8 million of its voters, it is essential to be prepared for a strong, hard fight for the regulation of law, for freedom of speech, for democracy, for Poland. And people who are willing to organize and lead in the front line. Like Przemysław Czarnek or Patryk Jaka. At the same time, another people are needed who will be able to communicate with the Confederate voters (or possibly part of them) and even attract those who gave their support to the KO-Third Way-New Left coalition, without assuming that it will be a coalition on 13 December. People are needed who will not only become fresh faces but also, I dare to write, fresh minds of the patriotic camp, capable of reaching new, younger voters.

I repeat this appeal with the hope that this change is not only essential but besides possible.

Jarosław Kaczyński has all right to repeat these words to his successors: “Sirs! In honor of the future generations! May God bless them and let them to keep this legacy, which I have restored to them with our trouble, then our blood. Let them, erstwhile hard times come, remember us and never despair, knowing that you do not have specified terms, from which the viribus unitis at the divine auxilias cannot be raised."

Will the successors understand? This is the work of all of us – Poles: parents, grandparents, teachers, creators of all kinds of good – to understand.
