On Thursday evening, following the conclusion of the National safety Council meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke. The gathering of politicians and president was devoted to the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones.
– Anyone who wants to attack Poland in any way will be treated appropriately, as it was on the night of September 10. Poland has responded very patiently, cautiously and reasonably to various types of provocations, and this took years – said the head of the government.
Donald Tusk stressed that we had and are aware that as part of NATO, “we are co-responsible for peacekeeping, which is why Polish reactions were subdued and adequate”.
– erstwhile there was a direct threat, the invasion of Polish airspace, we decided to shoot down those drones that posed the top threat – he stressed.
The Prime Minister reiterated that during his talks with prime ministers and presidents from European countries, "he had heard words of support and knowing without exception from everyone." “Everyone understands that this provocation, this drone attack, was not directed at Poland only, was aimed at European countries,” said the head of the government, adding that “everyone treats it as a common cause.”
– Thanks to solidarity came not only the words of support, but more importantly, unambiguous declarations of Poland's support. I heard this very clearly from the leaders of France, the Netherlands, the UK, Sweden," he stressed.
Donald Tusk announced at a press conference that Poland would cooperate closely with Ukraine in terms of anti-drone systems. “We will draw from the best designs, and the Ukrainian ones are checked on the battlefield,” he added.
– We are scheduled in the coming hours for circumstantial talks and exchange of experience with the Ukrainian side," said the Prime Minister.
The head of government besides stressed one more time that from the first hours since he learned about the breach of our airspace, his cooperation with president Karol Nawrocki has been "walking by the model".
