Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: NATO needs strong Poland as Poland needs strong NATO

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in the yearly staff briefing of the Ministry of National Defence and Armed Forces with the participation of the president of Poland A. Duda and Minister of National Defence M. Błaszczak. The head of government stressed that geopolitical changes in Europe and in the planet require a concrete response. We adopt an active attitude towards challenges and fresh threats – we grow the army, strengthen cooperation with NATO allies in our region, and make Poland's defence readiness on an ongoing basis.

Poland strengthens safety architecture in Europe

The upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius will be an crucial minute for the further improvement of safety of the east flank of NATO, of which Poland is simply a key country. Our country has in fresh years stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance is the strongest warrant of safety and stableness in Europe.

– I am glad that this real, real North Atlantic giant has awakened, that Poland as a country that is both pro-European and pro-American at the same time – it is the trans-Atlantic stronghold," said the Prime Minister.

Poland is very committed to strengthening cooperation with allies, but above all to developing its own army. The Polish Armed Forces are undergoing the largest expansion and modernization in past – fresh soldiers, fresh structures and units and the latest available combat equipment.

At the same time, we strengthen the capabilities of the Polish defence industry. We invest in the expansion of key plants specified as Huta Stalowa Wola and besides support the production of ammunition in our country. strategical industries request peculiar attention and we are doing so.

The Homeland Defence Act guarantees the improvement of the Polish army

The fresh dynamics in the improvement of Polish defence is due, among others, to the Homeland Defence Act. It gave grounds for modernization and improvement of the Polish Army. Accelerated modernisation processes and fresh financing mechanisms let investments in Polish defence. Thanks to the repaired public finances, present we are able to make our army on a large scale – in 2023 we spend almost 4% of our GDP on the expansion of the Polish Army.

– You can pay for independency with blood – as is the case present in Ukraine. And you can besides invest and strengthen the Armed Forces. Under the direction of president Andrzej Duda and with the immense function of Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński and with the support of everyone here in this area – we are united in the expansion and strengthening of our Armed Forces," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an address addressed to the commanders of the Armed Forces of Poland and representatives of the Ministry of National Defence.

The process of modernization of the Polish Armed Forces already brings visible results – our soldiers have received the most modern K2 and Abrams tanks in fresh months, and our country is constantly protected by Patriot anti-aircraft systems, FA-50 combat aircraft and HIMARS launchers.
