In order to build a future together with Ukraine, we request to organize a painful past. Volyn is simply a closed wound in the past of our nations. In connection with the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Volynian Crime, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki paid tribute to the murdered Poles by the Ukrainian Insurgency Army (UPA). The chief of government visited 2 non-existent villages of Ostrówówka and Puźniki in Ukraine, where the search for a collective grave continues. As he pointed out, the Volynsk Crime must be explained and written to the very end.
Genocide of Poles in Volyn









Almost 80 years ago, UPA launched a coordinated attack on towns inhabited by Poles in Volyn.
This immense tragedy is Volynsk Crime. It is genocide, hekatomba and hell of thousands of Polish families. In total, it is estimated that over 100,000 Poles lost their lives in this hellhole
said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
As the Prime Minister explained, the Volynian Crimes were done by Ukrainian nationalists, but it was besides possible due to the fact that the 3rd Reich ruled Volyn at the time.
Volynsk crime must be cleared to the end
After 80 years from the Volynian Crime, Poles want to find a place to remainder their ancestors to bury them worthy.
Today we not only mention that time, but we call for uncovering all burial sites in order to be able to exhume the victims and bury them decently. We will not rest, I will not remainder until the last victim of that terrible crime is found. It's our work and our legacy.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki besides pointed out that without explanation and writing down the Volyn past to the end, Russia will always usage this card to drive a wedge between Poles and Ukrainians.
We cannot let this, especially at a time erstwhile Ukrainian soldiers are fighting for their freedom and independence, but besides for our safety and our future
said the Prime Minister.
Search for remains of victims of Volynsk Crime
For respective weeks, on the basis of arrangements with the Ukrainian side, the search continues for remains of victims of crimes in Puźniki in Buczacki district, where in February 1945 a band of UPA murdered about 100 Poles – mainly women and children.
On the Polish side, the work is conducted by experts from the Pomeranian Medical University and the Institute of National Memory. Over a hectare of land has already been explored and more than 500 wells and 80 excavations have been carried out. The search uses state-of-the-art equipment – georadars and magnetometric probes and metallic detectors. Work will proceed until then.
Volynsk crime
80 years ago, 11 and 12 July 1943. The Ukrainian Powstance Army carried out a coordinated attack on towns inhabited by Poles in the erstwhile Volynian Voivodeship. UPA utilized the fact of gathering people in churches, on Sunday July 11. "Blood Sunday" is considered a highest minute of genocide by Ukrainian nationalists in Poles from 1943 to 1945. As a consequence of the genocide, about 100,000 Poles died in Volyn.
