Donald Tusk is the worst Polish Prime Minister in over 3 decades, says president Karol Nawrocki. Both top officials have a public dispute over national issues as well as about positions towards Ukraine.

In an interview with Poland24 this week Nawrocki stated that he considered Tuska "the worst Prime Minister in Poland's past after 1989".

Tusk attacked Nawrocki in a post on X last Friday, claiming that the president refused to delegate officer degrees to 136 graduates who had late completed intelligence and counterintelligence training.

“To be president, it is not adequate to win elections” – wrote the Prime Minister, seemingly referring to Nawrocki, who rapidly rejected these accusations.

In his Tuesday interview Nawrocka accused Tusk of prohibiting the heads of Polish peculiar services from participating in meetings with the President.

In an earlier interview, he said that for the first time since the fall of communism in Poland in 1989 the heads of intelligence services resigned from the conventional meeting.

The president besides stated that Poland “has gone besides far” to support Ukraine at the expense of its own interests.

Nawrocki, who took office earlier this year, had previously confirmed general support for Ukraine but opposed its membership in NATO and the EU.

In September, he signed a law strengthening the criteria for granting benefits to Ukrainian migrants.

Poland has been 1 of the loudest supporters of Kiev since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in 2022.

However, public support for Kiev and Ukrainian migrants has fallen significantly.

A survey by CBOS in September showed that support for the admission of Ukrainians fell from 94% in early 2022 to just 48%.

In the same month, Tusk reprimanded his countrymen for alleged improvement ‘antipathy’ against Ukraine, for which he blamed Russia.

Addressing Warsaw safety Forum participants in September, the Prime Minister stressed that the conflict in Ukraine "is besides our war" and is fundamental to the full West.
