The Politico portal saw president Karol Nawrocki as 1 of the most crucial figures to form the future of Europe. In the ranking he was ranked 23rd. Donald Trump, in support of the Polish president, was at the forefront of the ranking.
Politico notes that Donald Tusk's plans to centralize power and subordinate it to the Brussels agenda were stopped by Nawrock's election. The President, as the portal writes, turned the Presidential Palace into a strong decision-making centre, protecting the constitutional balance and inhibiting government attempts to take full control of the state.
The editorial notes that the current majority of the parliament has no power to vote on the presidential veto, while at the same time itself cannot number on the support of the opposition in key laws. As a result, Warsaw does not talk with 1 voice in Europe – but, as the commentators emphasize, it is the consequence of a conflict caused by the government, attempting to marginalize the head of the state, even though the constitution gives him an crucial function in abroad policy.
Politico besides recalls that Trump openly supported Nawrocki during the run and assured him of the continued presence of American troops in Poland.
