The agreement with Mercosur is global, covers thousands of products that can flood Poland, destruct Polish agriculture and another industries. The proposed safeguard clauses for respective product groups will not change anything. It's like spreading a screen before a tsunami.
I have been saying "NO" from the beginning for the EU agreement with MERCOSUR. The defence of Polish agriculture against its effects was included in my legislative initiative in August 2025. I spoke about this in Paris during the gathering with president Macron, I spoke about it in Italy during the gathering with Prime Minister Meloni, our geopolitical arguments in the context of this agreement and the usage of Russian agricultural inputs in the countries of South America I presented to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Food safety is production close to the consumer, not food imports from 10,000 km away. Imports of food produced utilizing banned substances in the EU for 20 years, harmful to the wellness of Poles, are unacceptable.
