Presidents of Poland and Lithuania have opened a motorway key to safety

Via Baltica plays a key function in today's geopolitical context. Lithuania and Poland, together with another Baltic countries, take their safety very seriously and invest heavy in defence," stressed Lithuanian president Gitanas Nauseda on Monday.

President Litw and president Karol Nawrocki took part in the authoritative beginning of the Via Baltica Highway.

Nauseda emphasized that Monday’s celebration culminates in years of intense work.

Both Lithuania and Poland have invested considerable resources, time and effort in building the highest quality transport artillery – he said.

Investment in security

There is no uncertainty – he added – that the strategical importance of Via Baltica would proceed to grow. The Lithuanian president pointed out that the way plays a key function in today's geopolitical context.

“Lithuania and Poland, along with another Baltic countries, take their safety very seriously and invest heavy in defence,” stressed Nauseda.

Via Baltica way connects Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to Poland. From the border with Lithuania in Buddzisk, the way runs along the full S61 and (in the region of Ostrów Mazowiecki) connects with S8 to Warsaw. The way is, as the road drivers emphasize, the most crucial road connection that connects the Baltic countries with Western Europe. Via Baltica is besides part of 2 corridors of the TEN-T European transport network: the North Sea – the Baltic Sea and the Baltic – the Black Sea – the Aegean Sea.
